Farmers Market set for seniors

SALEM — Area health and wellness businesses will sponsor a Farmers Market for area senior citizens who will receive information on issues that effect their daily living from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Salem Senior Housing, 996 W. Perry St. Fresh fruits and vegetables will be distributed.

Beaver Township Fire/Rescue breakfast

BEAVER TWP. — Area residents are invited to the Beaver Township Fire/Rescue’s pancake breakfast fund raiser from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Beaver Township Fire Department, 601 W. South Range Road. The menu offers pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit cup, homemade doughnuts and choice of beverage. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds will go to Beaver Township Fireman’s Association.

Model railroad flea market planned

SALEM — The Toy Train and Model Railroad Flea Market, featuring over 230 dealer tables, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Center Plex, 1098 N. Spaghetti dinner set at Alchemy Acres

SALEM — Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary will host a spaghetti dinner, 50/50 raffle and a bake sale with gourmet items from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at 330-332-4897. Cost is $8 per ticket and free for children under 5 years. The meal includes spaghetti with meatballs, salad or applesauce, Italian bread, coffee, tea or lemonade and a dessert. The event will feature a Chinese auction with a large selection of baskets and gift certificates and a go cart valued at $1,000. Carryout dinners may be purchased by calling 330-337-8817. All proceeds benefit the animals at the sanctuary.

Salem Memorial Day planning

Lepper Library to host author

LISBON — Lepper Library will host local author Sarah Dickey of Lisbon at 6 p.m. Monday. She will present her recently released book, “Ode to Love: A Journey of Awakening.” Dickey, founder of Cool Creative Press, will speak on her writing process and her inspirations. Auditions set Monday at Stage left

LISBON — Stage Left Youth Players will hold auditions for the kindergarten to eighth-grade one-act musical, “Snap the Whip” on Monday. Participation in the production will include a visit to the Butler Institute of American Art to visit the piece that inspired director and playwright Kandace Cleland. Dr. Scolieri to speak at Auxiliary meeting

SALEM — Dr. Michael Scolieri will speak when the Salem Regional Medical Center Auxiliary hosts its monthly membership meeting at 9:30 a.m. April 12 in the hospital’s private dining room. Dr. Scolieri will discuss “Bowel and Bladder Incontinence.”

Interactive nutrition program offered

HANOVERTON — United Community Education Program and The Ohio State University Extension Office are presenting an interactive nutrition education program for families with children, infants to age 18, starting from 3:30 to 5 p.m. April 12 at United High School. The nine free weekly workshops will continue on Thursdays when participants will learn to make healthier choices, budget, plan and shop for meals, food safety and low impact physical activity.

Drive-thru chicken dinner in North Lima

NORTH LIMA — The monthly drive-thru chicken dinner will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out April 12 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Avenue Extension. The menu offers a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7 per dinner. A percentage of each month’s profits is used for local missions.

Breakfast planned in North Benton

NORTH BENTON — An all-you-can-eat community breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 11 a.m. April 14 at the North Benton Presbyterian Church. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for ages 6 to 12. Carryouts are available.

Salem 1953 to meet at Annabell’s

SALEM — The Salem High School Class of 1953 plans to meet for lunch at noon April 14 at Annabell’s restaurant.

Rabies prevention clinic planned

DAMASCUS — In cooperation with the Mahoning County Health Department, the Damascus Ruritan Club will host a rabies prevention clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. April 14 in the Damascus Fire Department meeting room on state Route 534. All dogs must be on a leash and cats confined in a cage. During the clinic, the club will host a food pantry, asking the public to help support the hungry in the community. The food and monetary donations collected will go to the Damascus Friends Church Food Pantry for distribution.

New Waterford Eagles Club schedule

NEW WATERFORD – Area residents are invited to the following activities on April 14 at the New Waterford Eagles Club. A steak fry will be served from 4 to 8 p.m., or until sold out. SOS Sounds DJ and karaoke, follows from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The Chub Scouts Band will play from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Queen of Hearts tickets will be available that day.

Rabies vaccinations set in Lisbon

LISBON — Wesley Vins, Columbiana County health commissioner, has announced that a rabies prevention clinic, sponsored by the Columbiana County Health Department and Lisbon Veterinary Clinic, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 14 at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, 9364 state Route 45. Vaccinations are $5 per dose for pets that are 3 months of age and older. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be confined or in a cage. Rabies vaccination certificates will be issued for all pets vaccinated.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels will hosts its annual spaghetti dinner and gift basket raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. April 14 in pavilion four at Firestone Park. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Carryouts are available along with curbside pick up by calling 330-482-0366. The New Waterford Lions Club will offer free glaucoma eye screenings from 1 to 7 p.m.

Earth Day crafts planned at Leetonia Library

LEETONIA — Children of all ages, with assistance from a staff member, are invited to make a fun take-home craft at the Leetonia Community Public Library between April 16 to 21 just in time for Earth Day on April 22. Children may also plant flowers in a biodegradable pot to take home and plant in the ground.

Program on hurricanes offered

SALEM — Salem Public Library will offer the program “Hurricanes: Predicting Disaster” at 6:30 p.m. April 26 in the library’s Quaker Meeting Room. The program, to be provided via video-conferencing from Mariners Museum of Newport News, Va., will help participants explore the difference between hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones.
